Despite the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, Bloomberg has ranked Greece among the countries attracting more super yachts this year.

According to the data, 145 super yachts sailed Greek seas in August and 135 in July, compared to 132 in August 2019.

The luxurious vessels commonly seen in Greek waters can reach up to 180 m (590 ft) and include a professional crew of stewardesses, deckhands, and private chefs.

Also stated in the report, wealthier travelers appear to be opting for new mooring spots with COVID-19 safety in mind. This often means leaving behind traditional destinations such as Spain, which marked the largest decrease in super yachts with 26 leaving its waters last month.

Both Turkey and Croatia have also seen an increase in super yachts cruising their waters. The latter recently saw Roman Abramovich’s 533-foot Eclipse, the fourth-longest yacht in the world, cruising just offshore.

In 2019, Greece was the third most popular charter destination worldwide, accounting for 17 percent of the global yachting market after Southern France (20 percent) and Italy (19 percent).
