FUEL IN ITALY
Located in the heart of the Mediterranean Region, Italy has over 7,600 kilometers of lavish coastline. Due to its central geographic location in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean, Italy has historically been home to a myriad of ancient peoples and cultures. Not only is Italy home to global treasures such as the Colosseum and the birthplace of pizza, but also has some of the largest seaports in Europe. Whether you are taking a romantic canal tour or weekending on a luxurious yacht on the Amalfi Coast, Italy is truly an iconic place for the maritime industry.
Four different seas surround the Italian Peninsula in the Mediterranean Sea from three sides: the Adriatic Sea in the east, the Ionian Sea in the south, and the Ligurian Sea and the Tyrrhenian Sea in the west. Since Italy is so accessible by sea, it comes as no shock that Italy’s marine business cluster as one of the country’s most dynamic economic sectors, contributing €32.6 billion to Italy’s GDP and employing around 2% of the country’s workforce.
The Port of Gioia Tauro is the largest port in Italy for container traffic. It is responsible for connecting the global and regional networks that cross the Mediterranean. The Port of Genoa is in competition with the ports of Marseille and Barcelona to be the biggest of the Mediterranean Sea. With a trade volume of 51.6 million tons, it is the busiest port of Italy by cargo tonnage. The Port of Genoa is also home to several smaller marinas where sailboats and luxury yachts are moored.
Mediterranean Fuels stocks and distributes fuels and lubricants to customers who operate fishing boats, ocean-going yachts, cruise ships, cargo ships, and research vessels. We provide products from trusted brand names such as Gulf, NP/Ultra, and Shell. To provide our customers with more options, we also deal products from independent manufacturers.
In addition to marine fuels and lubricants, Mediterranean Fuels also supplies Intermediate Fuel Oil (IFO, RME180, & RMG380), Marine Gas Oil (MGO, bunker fuel), and Jet Fuel.
Mediterranean Fuels is ready to assist its customer in key ports throughout Italy. We supply our fine fuel and lubricant oil products in the key hubs of Cagliari, Civitavecchia/Rome, Livorno, Trieste, and Venice.
